Meet Amy – Founder of NW GLW, Tacoma’s Premier Spray Tanning Studio

Real glow, real story, real experience.

Like many of you, I’ve had my fair share of spray tanning mishaps. My most unforgettable one? The morning of my grandmother’s funeral. I was giving the eulogy and thought a little color might boost my confidence. What a mistake! I ended up bright orange. I had no idea I needed to let it process — it was a disaster (one I can laugh about now, thankfully).

That experience lit a fire in me. As a natural redhead, I couldn’t find a product that enhanced my skin tone instead of fighting it. So, I started experimenting, researching, and trying every sunless tanning solution I could find. Along the way, I met an incredible mentor in Bellingham who saw my eye for detail and encouraged me to start spray tanning professionally.

From Side Hustle to Studio Glow

For six years, I offered spray tans out of my home while working full-time in the beauty industry. I fell in love with the process and the way it made people feel — confident, radiant, and truly themselves.

Then… a puppy happened.

In December (our slow season), I brought home a Labradoodle named Griff — now known and loved by our clients as the official greeter of NW GLW. We were inseparable. When I returned to work, the separation anxiety hit us both hard.

As fate would have it, a friend opened a doggy daycare in Tacoma — and right next door was a cozy little studio space. I hadn’t planned to launch a storefront, but something clicked. After chatting with the amazing landlords, NW GLW was born.
