Meet Amy, the owner.

I’m sure many of us have had horrible spray tanning experiences, I know I have! Mine was the morning of my Grandmother’s funeral, I was giving the eulogy and thought that maybe with a little bit of color I would have more confidence to speak in front of everyone.  What a mistake that was!  I was so orange, and I didn’t know that I was supposed to let it process, it was a mess, a laughable mess now!

I knew that there had to be a better way and there also had to be better products that wouldn’t turn you that dreaded orange, which being a natural red head doesn’t bode in my favor.  I began researching and experimenting and trying many many different spray tans.  I was introduced to a wonderful woman in Bellingham that took me under her wing and trained me.  She said I had a natural eye and talent for this industry and that I should start doing spray tans as a little side hustle.  So, I went for it.  I spray tanned for 6 years out of my house and fell more in love with it with every tan I was able to give.

Then a puppy happened…

I had always worked a full-time career and spray tanned evening and weekends.  I would take vacation in December, as a beauty rep in the haircare industry, it was a busy time for stylists and a good time for reps to be out of their hair (no pun intended).  So, what better time to get a puppy!  Griff, a Labradoodle who you’ll meet in the shop, and I spent all of our days together and then I had to go back to work come January.  I had not trained him, we both had separation anxiety and I wasn’t sure what to do.  Luckily my friend had opened up a Doggy Daycare in Tacoma, and right next door was an available studio.  I had never thought that my side hustle could ever be a store front business, but after speaking with the amazing landlords, NW GLW was born.

NW GLW is a No Judgement, No apologies, Celebrate who you are as you are Studio.  We love you just the way you are and love the opportunity to give you a little extra GLW.  I am so incredibly grateful to have this business and to meet so many amazing clients and be a part of their journeys in life.  It’s so much more than just a spray tan.
